Character stats on the character sheet

On the Left hand side of a the character sheet you will find your character stats. These stats are used the to determine your characters ability ( or lack there off) to do something. You get these ability score in the following three ways.

  • Point buy: Each stat starts at 8 and you have pool of 27 points to distribute between them. Cost of increasing a stat above 13 increases from 1 to 2 points. The number cap of the stats is 15.
  • Standard array: Arrange the numbers 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, and 8 on each of your scores how ever you like.
  • Dice method: Role four D6 and drop the lowest number, after repeating this process so that each stat has one number and then arrange the numbers how ever you like.

once you have your score you need find your modifiers for checks and saves for each stat. each even number increases or decreases the modifier by 1, starting from 10 which has a +0 modifier. There is also proficiency Bonus score that starts at 2 at level 1 and then increases by 1 every four levels. You add this score to the original modifiers to skills you are proficient in ( skill proficiency usual comes from class, Background, and/or species features and once you have it you can’t loose it).

there are a total of Six character stat in Dungeon of Dragons and they all have sub stats know as skills that share their modifier. Below are the Character stats

Strength

This stat is used for making Physical attack rolls with most close range weapons. It is also used in the following skill checks;

Athletics: any task that requires physical strength.

Dexterity

This stat is used for making Physical attack rolls with most long range weapons and Finesse weapons (weapons that allow to roll Strength or Dexterity for their attack roll). It is also used in the following skill checks;

Acrobatics: Backflips and other similar actions.
Slight of Hand: Any action that involves using your hands sneakily.
Stealth: Hiding.
Initiative: Determining your place in combat order.

Constitution

This stat effects your total hit points and and when you roll your hit point dice on a short rest to restore your health you adds its modifier to to the roll.

Intelligence

This stat is used for recalling knowledge and book smarts. It is the main spellcasting stat for Wizards and Artificers. It is also used in the following skill checks;

Arcane: Recalling or understanding something magical.
History: Recalling History.
Investigation: looking for clues or trying to understand how something works.
Nature: Recalling or understanding information about Nature.
Religion: Recalling or understanding information about Religion.

Wisdom

This stat is used for your general senses and street smarts. It is the main spellcasting stat for Clerics, Druids, and Rangers . It is also used in the following skill checks;

Animal Handling: Interacting with animals.
Insight: to see through lies and vibe checks.
Medicine: stabilize dying companions or recall medical Knowledge.
Perception: using your General senses
Survival: recalling Survival knowledge and tracking.

Charisma

This stat is used for your Vibes and speaking ability. It is the main spellcasting stat for Bards, Warlocks, Sorcerers, paladins and Illrigers . It is also used in the following skill checks;

Deception: Lying.
Intimidation: scaring.
Performance: Performing.
Persuasion: negotiation without lying.
